Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Camp
The Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Camp brings together youth, aged 18‐30 from Aboriginal Communities to learn the basic principles of starting a business, and provides them with the opportunity to develop their own business plan. The camp features business coaching and mentorship, teamwork, networking, cultural and recreational activities, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
The purpose of the camp is to encourage Aboriginal youth to explore the option of entrepreneurship and to acquire skills important to becoming a successful entrepreneur.
In 2013, 2014, and 2015 The Alberta Indian Investment Corporation (AIIC) retained Acadia Entrepreneurship Centre to facilitate a six‐day training session to guide a group of 25 youth through the business planning process.
Participants chose their business partners for the camp and after a challenging and fun week of learning, each group had the opportunity to present their business plan to a panel of bankers/investors on the final day of the camp.
We are seeking interest from other groups who wish to host a camp as AIIC did to give their youth an opportunity to explore entrepreneurship and acquire practical business skills in the context of their culture and heritage.

Selling For the Rest of Us
If you’re an entrepreneur, you probably have a great idea, product, or service.
NOW YOU HAVE TO GO OUT AND SELL IT.
Feel like waiting until you have just *one* more flyer, brochure, web page, tag line…?
We can help.
We’re not going to teach you how to sell cars, or run a sales team for a Fortune 500 company like other sales programs. This is Selling for the Rest of Us.
We’re going to help you develop an authentic, personal approach to creating honest, ethical relationships with your customers.
There are 3 levels of learning; the more you invest in yourself, the stronger your skills:
Essentials: a 1 day crash course in the basics of the sales process for the person who needs to get customers right now
Foundations: 3 days of in-class learning and 3 weeks of virtual coaching and group support; learn by doing and get help along the way; this is the best option for a new small business owner
Pro: 3 days of training spread out over 13 weeks of practice, virtual and in-person coaching, peer support; when selling is all you do, this is the best option.
In every session you’re going to learn how to:
- find and connect with the customers who want to buy what you have to sell
- have real conversations that don’t feel awkward or pushy
- develop a personal language for selling that you can be comfortable with
- reach the sweet spot of mutual benefit in negotiation
- ask for the price that makes sense, without guilt
- create a brand your customers will keep coming back to
You’ll learn that great selling is really just about creating a great relationship with people who have the same values and interests as you, and helping them take advantage of an opportunity that will benefit them.
Hogan Assessment Tools are used worldwide by businesses and organizations to assess job and cultural fit, motivation, and career derailing behaviors. These tools are used in recruitment, advancement, leadership development and succession.
AEC uses three key assessment tools provided by Hogan: the Personality Inventory (the bright side of personality), the Development Survey (the dark side of personality) and the Motives, Values and Preference Inventory (motivation). The tools are located online and are password protected for security. Each assessment is followed by a generated report and a live debrief our trained Hogan technician, Lisa Lowthers.
If you are a business owner wanting to know what is holding you back, an owner or manager wanting to assess an employee these tools will provide insight that is not available with other tools such as Myers Briggs or others.
What would your life be like if you understood the people around you better? Can you imagine having a tool that would help you understand your boss, spouse, coworkers, and yes, even in-laws? This is a workshop that can change your life immediately.
True Colors is a fun, informative workshop that can be a half day or full day in length designed for coworkers, teams and even families and leaves the participant with the ability to identify their own dominate traits – and that of others. Based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the work of Dr. David Keirsey, True Colors offers an easily understood yet research-based approach to understanding human behaviour and motivation leaving the learner better able to understand their own dominant style – and that of others – resulting in better relationship management.
